I have a five-step SMART Job Search method, and "Job boards" is the LAST step of the process. There's some foundational work to do first:
SEEK (STEP 1) What do you want?
Choose a career path that honors your values and priorities. Get very clear on what type of job you want - what job title(s)? In what type of company? Which industries interest you?
MATCH (STEP 2) What do your target employers want?
Who are your ideal employers, and what do they want? How does your unique blend of skills, background, and experience help them achieve their goals?
ALIGN (STEP 3) Personal Brand
Now that you know what you want and what your target employers want, define your personal brand and share it on your resume and LinkedIn profile. Then optimize your LinkedIn profile for maximum visibility.
RELATIONSHIPS (STEP 4) Networking
Now that your resume and LinkedIn are tight, it's time to reach out to recruiters and dig deep in your network (even if you don't have one). Ideally, you find a job during this stage.
THRIVE (STEP 5) Job search
NOW you're ready to apply for jobs. Use all sorts of tips and tricks to apply faster and stand out from the crowd. Then nail your interview and negotiate a higher salary.
